PROPOSALS TABLED (Please contact Bob Darling [x2923] if you have any questions).
New Courses:
CAP 404 Advanced Visual Basic Programming
The prerequisite should be listed as only CAP 204 (as CAP 100 is already a prerequisite for CAP 204). Also, please include the statement: Prerequisite: CAP 204. at the end of the catalog description (just before the (3 cr. hr.).
Please revise the catalog description on page 1 of the accompanying syllabus (to reflect the change described above).
On p. 2 of the syllabus change B-40 to B-1 in the disability statement.
On p. 2 of the proposal, please include room for two signatures from the Dean of the School of Education and the School of Education Curriculum Committee. Also delete the signature for the TEC.
 ENG 430 Authors, Movements, Scenes
As described, it is not clear that this course satisfies the literature requirement. Can this be indicated in the title or catalog description (e.g. Satisfies ENG literature requirement.) On a similar note, the committee wonders how students know what courses satisfy the literature requirement for your ENG major and minors? It is unclear in the catalog.
No grading policy indicated on syllabus.
Penalty for violating attendance policy is unclear.
At the bottom of p. 1 of syllabus (under the plagiarism penalty) students should consult the college handbook not the student handbook.
The statement on p. 1 of syllabus regarding the date of the final, regardless ofthe number of other finals you have that day is inconsistent with college policy.
Given that the course requires students to have significant experience with literary study, we recommend that students NOT be allowed to take the prerequisite concurrently.
The committee is concerned there may be overlap with SPA-423. Can you have the Chair of the ICC department review the proposal and provide comment? An e-mail is acceptable.
On p. 2 of the syllabus change B-40 to B-1 in the disability statement. Please include the course number (430) at the top of page 1 of the syllabus. Under the catalog description, replace catalogue with catalog. Delete ): before frequency code.
 ENG 477 Contemporary Literature
The course prerequisites are inconsistent with the prerequisite statement on p. 142 of the college catalog because it appears to exclude non-majors, yet there is no indication of any course restrictions (these questions were left blank on p. 1 of the proposal).
Either dont allow students to take the course concurrently with the prerequisite or include the following statement at the end of the catalog description ENG 477 may be taken concurrently with ENG 325 or 326 or 355 or 356.
The end of the catalog description needs to include: the prerequisite statement (if different than what is in the catalog; see above), the concurrent enrollment statement (if desired), and (3 cr. hr.)
The committee is concerned there may be overlap with FLT-299. Can you have the Chair of the ICC department review the proposal and provide comment? An e-mail is acceptable.
Please delete any reference to the course having the WI attribute (p. 1 of syllabus). The WI attribute can be awarded only after Provost approval as indicated on second page of the proposal form.
The catalog description on p. 1 of the syllabus must be identical to that on p.1 of the proposal (after it is changed).
On p. 3 of the syllabus change B-40 to B-1 in the disability statement.
